PROMOST Project changing lives in Kayanza District

Swisscontact began operations in Kayanza District, Burundi in March 2017 under the PROMOST project. The project activities implemented so far include short term training, apprenticeships and Training of Trainers (ToT).

The project has made significant changes in the lives of many despite it being launched less than two years ago.

"I heard about Swisscontact supporting vocational training for school dropouts in Kayanza. Since I had always dreamt of learning auto mechanics, I applied to be considered for the training and was fortunate to be selected. I can now proudly say that I know how to fix motorbikes. I can repair simple issues like tyre changes, service and maintain different bikes and even deal with engine knocks.  The training has been a life changing opportunity for me."

Nduwimana Jean Pierre| PROMOST Trainee.

"For me, the training was a godsend. The Training of Trainers helped me refine my work and get better results from the activities I was performing. The trainers showed me how to perform critical tasks effectively. For example, they explained the importance of using the template and bristol paper which has helped me estimate measurements, minimize mistakes and save on time as well as the quantity of material I use.’’
