The first Steering Committee Meeting of Skills Development Programme (SDP) Convened

The first meeting of the Steering Committee of Skills Development Programme (SDP) convened in Phnom Penh on December 16, 2016. The purpose of the meeting was to agree on the terms of reference of the committee and chart the future directions of SDP.

The members of this high level Steering Committee are Simon Junker, Deputy Head of The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation; H.E Laov Him, Director-General Directorate of TVET, Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training; Try Chhiv, Deputy Director General of Tourism, Director of National Committee of Tourism Professionals Secretariat, Ministry of Tourism; H.E Mean SreyNo , Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Women Affairs;  H.E Hong Choeun,  Head of National Employment Agency; Vice Governor Nhem Sary, Stung Treng province; Vice Governor Kousom BunSoeut, Preah Vihear province; Vice Governor Cheak Mengheang, Kratie province and members of the SDP Secretariat staff.

Key decisions agreed by the Steering Committee were as follows:
A. The Steering Committee will convene twice a year to discuss on issues and evaluate the implementation of the SDP.
B. The Steering Committee will provide extra seat to representatives from private sectors who passionate about skills training, as the private sector would be an ideal stakeholder with better understanding of skills demand.

The Committee will convene again in late June 2017 to conclude the one-year activity plan proposed by SDP.
