Tasks

  • Overall successful implementation of the project
  • Develop and manage a strong team with appropriate skills and experience
  • In-charge of the overall project finance and communication with external stakeholders
  • Build relationships and network with the private sector, local and national associations, donors, or other implementing organisations
  • Organize and manage technical short and long term experts
  • Quality control and timeliness of all deliverables; ensure smooth financial reporting
  • Ensure high quality monitoring and results measurement (MRM) and that all reports to donors are submitted in a timely manner
  • Serve as a member of the project steering committee

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of general working experience, preferably in international development cooperation and/or private sector development
  • International work experience, preferably in Eastern and/or Southern Africa
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in skills development and working with youth
  • Good knowledge of and practical experience in the use of methodologies related to skills development and/or entrepreneurship promotion, as well as to Monitoring and Results Measurement.
  • Ability to engage and cooperate with a wide variety of stakeholders, especially with the private sector.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing value chain interventions in agriculture to facilitate economic development
  • Experience in enterprise promotion and working with the private sector
  • Experience in managing projects and/or multi-stakeholder initiatives of a size above USD 5 Mio., preferably in development cooperation.
  • Ability to bring in innovation and creativity to further develop approaches
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Portuguese (or Spanish) are mandatory
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in coordinating interdisciplinary project teams
