Tasks

Thematic Lead in Migration and Development Nexus

  • Consolidate and strengthen Swisscontact’s expertise in the field of Migration and Development Nexus (Switzerland and abroad)
  • Link to the other Swisscontact fields of expertise
  • Takes active role in Migration Networks supported by Swiss or international donors
  • Maintains and facilitates Swisscontact’s internal Community of Practice (CoP) Migration
  • Active support of donors and development of strategic partnerships
  • Representation of Swisscontact in national and international conferences or events
  • Advises ongoing programmes concerning Migration and Development Nexus

Market Positioning in Migration and Development Nexus

  • Actively seeks for market intelligence with bilateral and multilateral donors concerning Migration and Development Nexus, and informs internally about the donors’ strategies, topical priorities, and trends
  • Develops strategies for pro-active acquisition, which are aligned with Swisscontact’s thematic priorities
  • Active role in project development and tender writing

Requirements

  • Master’s in development economics, Social Sciences or equivalent
  • At least 5 years of experience in development cooperation, preferably with migration in developing countries
  • Proven topical experience in migration, including exposure in & organization of international workshops  or conferences
  • Good knowledge of Swiss & international donors active in the field of migration
  • Proven experience in project advisory and backstopping support
  • Proven experience in development of complex projects, tender writing, etc. 
  • Excellent writing skills in English required; writing skills in French and/or Spanish would be an advantage
  • Eminent communication, networking and presentation skills
  • Proven digital competences (interacting through technologies; innovating and creatively using technology)
  • Business oriented, initiative, dynamic, and ambitious personality
