Field Visit of National Reconstruction Authority Nepal

The Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority Nepal, Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel, along with other government officials, arrived in Sindhuli district on September 25, 2017 to observe reconstruction progress in the district after the devastating Gorkha earthquake of April 25, 2015. The key objective of his visit was to monitor the technical aspects of the construction of houses and overall progress of the reconstruction work.

His first visit was to Jhangajholi Raatmata in Sindhuli district, one of the working areas of Skills for Safe Reconstruction Project (SSRP), implemented by Swisscontact and funded by Swiss Solidarity. During his monitoring visit, Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel observed the houses built by masons during On the Job Training provided by SSRP. He appreciated the fact that masons were being trained on earthquake resistant technology and motivated them to continue their role in the reconstruction work. He interacted with quake victims to know more about the statuses of grants provided by the Government of Nepal.

Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel also interacted with Swisscontact personnel and enquired about the progress of SSRP and employment statuses of trained masons. Overall, he was pleased with the progress and thanked Swisscontact for the contribution to the reconstruction work in Sindhuli district.
