M4C organises orientation and exposure visit for BRAC Microfinance officials

Making Markets Work for the Jamuna, Padma and Teesta Chars (M4C) organised an orientation session and exposure visit for BRAC Microfinance officials on 20-21 September 2017. Twenty-seven BRAC Microfinance officials, including concerned loan officers, branch managers, area managers, sector specialists and a divisional manager participated in the orientation session in the evening of 20 September at BRAC Learning Centre at Bogra. The approaches and relevance of market facilitation activities for successful seasonal loan operation was discussed prior to a day-long exposure visit to Natuarpara union under Kazipur upazila, Sirajganj district.

Partnership agreement signed between Multi-Dimensional Action for Development-Nepal (MADE-Nepal) and Krishak Beej Bhandar

Multi-Dimensional Action for Development- Nepal (MADE-Nepal) signed a formal partnership agreement with Krishak Beej Bhandar on 1st October, 2017 at Krishak Beej Bhandar's office in Birgunj, Nepal. According to the agreement, the partnership will work on marketing registered varieties of maize seeds in new markets and areas within Nepal. This is expected to benefit farmers by providing them with access to high yielding maize seeds, and to increase national maize productivity and production to substitute import of maize grain for the feed industry.

Field Visit of National Reconstruction Authority Nepal

The Chief Executive Officer of National Reconstruction Authority Nepal, Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel, along with other government officials, arrived in Sindhuli district on September 25, 2017 to observe reconstruction progress in the district after the devastating Gorkha earthquake of April 25, 2015. The key objective of his visit was to monitor the technical aspects of the construction of houses and overall progress of the reconstruction work.
