Represented in 33 countries with over 1100 employees, it promotes - since 1959 - economic, social and environmental development.

Mission

We promote economic, social and ecological development.
We achieve our mission by creating opportunities for people seeking to improve their living conditions and livelihoods through their own initiatives and integrating them into the local economic life.

Work

Swisscontact acts as catalyst for project implementation: promoting a conducive environment for entrepreneurship, access to information, skill and markets.
Swisscontact provides practical, market driven and locally customized solutions to socio-economic development challenges

Topics

Employment and income open pathways out of poverty into a future with opportunities. A prerequisite for this is sustainable growth, driven by an innovative private sector.
Activities in private sector development are focussed on vocational education and training, labor market inseration, strengthening of local SMEs, access to financial services and the efficient use of resources.

Inclusive Markets

The Inclusive Markets approach, developped and shaped by Swisscontact, aimes to make market systems more inclusive, thus creating jobs and affordable goods and services which the poor are able to access.
The approach adresses constraints and chances of existing market systems and what interventions are needed to create new opportunities for the disadvantaged.
